Safety, Reporting and Moderation
This Safety, Reporting and Moderation notice explains how you can report problems on HangIn and what staff do today. A solicitor-reviewed policy will replace this notice when it is ready.
Contact: HangInAppOfficial@gmail.com. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services (UK: 999). HangIn is not an emergency service.
In the app you can report a post, profile, review, or message (including event chat). Choose a reason and add a note if it helps. After some reports, HangIn may offer to block the other person.
Reports go to HangIn staff on the admin list, who review them with HangIn’s staff tools (not a public HangIn HQ screen). Named staff can review the report, a short snapshot of a reported message, and then record a decision such as no action, a warning, removing some content, restricting messaging, suspending, or banning an account. A ban does not disable Firebase sign-in, so you can still open Appeal.
HangIn does not currently run automated scanners for illegal content or a 24/7 specialised safety desk. An in-app Report is acknowledged on screen when it is stored. We aim to acknowledge email / Help & Support complaints within 10 working days. We do not currently notify every reporter of the outcome as a product feature.
You can also email HangInAppOfficial@gmail.com, or use Help & Support in Settings. Appeals for a suspension or ban can be sent to that mailbox.
This notice is also at https://hangin.app/safety.
