Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how HangIn (“we”) handles information in the HangIn app and on hangin.app. It matches how HangIn works today.

HangIn is a social map for friends, events, and business listings. Personal accounts must be 18 or older. Business accounts do not collect a personal date of birth; the person who creates or manages a Business account must be an adult authorised to bind that organisation.
Account and profile. We collect your email, name, username, profile photos, bio, and (for personal accounts) date of birth to create and run your account. Date of birth is used for the age gate and is stored in an owner-only age-gate record. HangIn does not show your birthday on the public profile screen. An integer age may appear on your account record for age checks. Sign in may use email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple.
User content. Posts, photos, videos, events, reviews, stories, and messages you send are stored so other people on HangIn can see them according to your settings. You can report posts, profiles, reviews, stories, and messages in the app.
Location. With permission, HangIn uses your location for nearby events and directions. Optional live map sharing with friends can use background location only if you turn that on in Location Controls after HangIn explains the use. Background sharing is off unless you opt in. Precise location defaults on when the feature is used. Map Location Visibility defaults to No One. Live coordinates are stored in a live-map share record that other clients can read only when your Map Location Visibility allows. HangIn keeps the latest pin while sharing is on, not a location history trail.
Device permissions you choose. Calendar (optional event sync, including Google Calendar if you connect it), camera, microphone, and photo library for content you create (posts, profile, stories, journals, Share Photo, bookmark covers). HangIn does not access your device Contacts book — Find Friends is in-app search. Optional home-screen widgets can show event titles and places on the device.
Purchases. App Store and Google Play process HangIn Plus, Creator, and Business Pro subscriptions. Stripe processes boosts and event tickets. We receive purchase and entitlement records needed to unlock features, pay hosts, and handle refunds. Cancel subscriptions in Apple or Google subscription settings; HangIn checks for subscriptions still set to renew before account deletion continues.
Diagnostics. The HangIn phone app sends crash reports to Firebase / Google Crashlytics so HangIn can fix crashes. They are not used for ads. Expo Observe and HangIn reliability pings may record performance (not ads).
Cookies on hangin.app. Essential cookies keep you signed in. Optional cookies help us see if the site is working, and load only if you accept them. The HangIn app does not use HTTP cookies. Details: https://hangin.app/legal/cookies.
Who we share with. Google Firebase (hosting, database, auth, storage, and crash reports) in europe-west1 / eur3 where configured. Apple and Google for sign-in and in-app purchases. RevenueCat for subscription status. Stripe for cards, tickets, boosts, and payouts. We do not sell your personal information for advertising. HangIn does not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps for ads.
Staff. Named HangIn staff can review safety reports (including short message snapshots) and operate the platform. Firebase project owners can access production data as part of running the service.
Retention and deletion. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or at https://hangin.app/account-deletion. Your profile is hidden immediately. You have 30 days to cancel. After that HangIn removes profile, posts, and photos it can reach. Messages you sent are blanked in remaining threads. Ticket, payout, boost, legal-acceptance, and safety-report records may be kept for accounting, disputes, or safety. Stripe, RevenueCat, Crashlytics, and App Store / Google Play subscription records are not deleted by HangIn — cancel store subscriptions separately.
Your rights. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Signed-in users can download a copy from Settings → Account → Download my data in the HangIn app or on hangin.app. You can also email the contact above. We will need enough information to find your account.
